I don’t know about you, but music and good podcasts, have the ability to shift my entire mood at any given moment, especially during intense workouts where my motivation is fleeting. Depending on my mood you can find a variety of genres and motivational podcasts ready to go on my fitness playlists.
The best part of exploring the podcast world is that you can find high-quality, free information on practically any subject from fitness and nutrition to sports, politics, and personal success. All it takes is a simple click to either download a single issue or subscribe to the whole library.
Currently, one of my favorite podcasts that I listen to while exercising and even cooking is called Shredded by Science. They approach frequently asked fitness conundrums with a science-based analysis. I am not the biggest science buff and in fact, it was one of my least favorite subjects in school, but through listening to this podcast I have been able to learn why the body responds in certain capacities.
The podcast is not necessarily strictly geared for the average person, but for personal trainers or people who have a keen interest in training others. However, despite its niche, most episodes are general enough to grab the attention of anyone looking to expand their fitness know-how. The show's hosts are committed to increasing the knowledge of fitness-industry professionals by taking a close look at fitness dogma, trends, and research.
Basically educational and informative podcasts have a way of motivating me because they help me understand certain topics from a standpoint of learning. It’s important to find a genre that resonates with you and pushes you to do better and think positively.
Start by looking into topic niches that interest you and encourage you to learn more. Through a little bit of research, you will be able to find podcasts that entertain and educate you at the same time.
When I am in the mood for something that requires less concentration I enjoy working out to some music. Listening to music while exercising doesn't just relieve boredom —it motivates me to keep going. This helps improve the quality of my workout because I find it increases my stamina and puts me in a better mood. I particularly enjoy music that is synchronized with my exercise routine for the day. Sometimes during my breaks, I even start to dance and don’t want to stop moving.
The purpose of this post is to encourage you to find what motivates you when you work out and encourage you to take some time out to research podcasts and create playlists that have the ability to make you work harder. Take the time to plan out your workouts and even go as far as bookmarking podcasts to listen to throughout the week and music playlists that can be played depending on the vibe of your workout.
Having fun when you workout is compulsory to remaining consistent because let’s face its human nature to want to enjoy the activities you part take in. It is up to us to be active participants in ensuring we have fun whilst we improve ourselves for the better. Personally listening to podcasts and music are two things that have widely increased my enjoyment for exercise during even the most intense moments.
